CHP and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, along with Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the accident shortly after 10:30 a.m., after receiving reports of a downed and injured paraglider.

911 callers reported the victim was injured after landing in a difficult area to access and would possibly require a remote area rescue and need to be airlifted from the scene.

When officials arrived they found the injured victim about 1,000 ft. up a hill, and requested assistance from Cal Fire’s Copter 301 to perform a hoist operation to safely bring the victim down the hill to a waiting ambulance.

Copter 301’s aviation crew soon arrived in the area and worked with ground personnel to conduct a basket hoist.

After being plucked from the side of the mountain, the victim was transported to an area hospital. The person, who has not been identified, sustained moderate injuries, but was in stable condition, according to a Cal Fire social media release.

No information about how the accident happened or how much experience the victim had was immediately available.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
