UPDATE: Injured 2 weeks ago in Aguanga crash, Temecula nurse dies, ID’d

AGUANGA — A 55-year-old Temecula man who was critically injured in a crash in the unincorporated county area of Aguanga Nov. 9 has passed away despite undergoing multiple surgeries for “extensive injuries, fractures, and trauma.”

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials identified yesterday Eric Fillman as the man who died as a result of the crash. According to a coroner’s release Fillman succumbed to his injuries Friday, Nov. 23, at Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center and was pronounced deceased at 1:18 p.m.

The crash that led to Fillman’s death happened at 9:40 a.m. on Highway 371, 2.5 miles east of Highway 79, according to coroner officials. He was initially airlifted to LLUMC and had been intubated since the accident, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser set up by friends and family members to help raise money for his medical expenses.

Fillman was a registered nurse at Bridge Home Health and Hospice, according to the fundraiser, which had raised $2,300 of $15,000 as of this report.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the deadly crash.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
