City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, responded to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m., after receiving reports of the crash. 911 callers reported one victim was possibly ejected and down in the roadway and the other was unresponsive and possibly trapped inside the mangle wreckage of her car, which brought a swift response from officers, who arrived in the area within one minute of the dispatched call.

When officials arrived they found a Toyota sedan and Dodge Ram pickup truck in the intersection. Vehicle parts and debris were scattered throughout the intersection and both vehicles had sustained major damage.

The victim reported to be in the roadway had already been moved out of the lanes of traffic and the driver of the sedan was confirmed trapped. Firefighters quickly set up the “Jaws of Life” to perform a cut and rescue operation to free the trapped and injured woman.

Both victims were eventually transported to University Health Care System in Moreno Valley for further evaluation and treatment, and the full nature and extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

While officials worked at the scene they called for the temporary closure of part of the intersection, and the roadway was re-opened a short time later after the wrecked vehicles were towed from the scene.

Hemet PD is investigating the cause of the crash and their investigation is active and ongoing.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
