Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials identified last night Thomas Llamas, 22, of San Jacinto, as the rider killed in the two-vehicle crash. A coroner’s release indicated that after the accident Llamas was transported Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley. Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries about two and a half hours after the collision and was pronounced deceased at 1:08 a.m.

Emergency first responders were dispatched to the intersection shortly before 10:45 p.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a car and motorcycle, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Marshall said after the deadly wreck.

When officials arrived they found Llamas down on the ground with major traumatic injuries. AMR medics rushed the critically injured man to a Moreno Valley trauma center where he later passed away.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 21-year-old San Jacinto resident, did not sustain any injuries and remained at the scene of the crash. The motorist was cooperative with the sheriff’s investigation and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to Marshall.

Based on the circumstances of the collision, members of Perris PD’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the accident and assumed the investigation, which revealed Llamas was traveling eastbound on Rider St. approaching Wilson Ave., just before the tragic accident.

At the same time the other motorist was traveling westbound on Rider St. and turned southbound onto Wilson Ave. directly in front of Llamas’s path. Llamas and other driver collided in the intersection, ejecting the rider from his motorcycle.

During their investigation, TRT members called for the temporary closure of the intersection, which was re-opened several hours later once the roadway was cleared of the vehicles and debris.

Perris PD’s investigation is active and ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision and has not been interviewed is encouraged to call Deputy Rabago at Perris Police Department at (951) 210-1000. Callers can refer to incident file number PE183320109 and can remain anonymous.
