Two in custody after JV officer-involved shooting

JURUPA VALLEY — Two people are in custody after an officer-involved shooting in Jurupa Valley that happened earlier today, Wednesday, Dec. 26. The shooting occurred in the area of Camino Real and Limonite Ave., according to a Tweet from Riverside County Sheriff’s Media Information Bureau. The Tweet explained all suspects involved in the incident were in custody and that there was no immediate threat to the public.

The first confirmation of today’s shooting came around 1:15 p.m., in the form of a Tweet from the sheriff’s department. The Tweet read in part, “Shortly after 11:40am/OIS (Officer Involved Shooting)/Camino Real X Limonite/No reported injuries to LE/2 suspect’s in custody/No threat to public safety. No additional info at this time.”

In a 2:30 p.m. updated Tweet officials wrote, “Forensics and investigators on scene/All suspects in custody/No threat to public safety.”

As the sheriff’s investigation was getting underway, a dark-colored SUV could be seen sitting in a field near the intersection. Its front passenger door and rear window remained open as forensic technicians documented, photographed, and collected, evidence from in and around the SUV.

Crime scene tape surrounded the small field where the vehicle sat and deputies, investigators, and other officials could be seen in and around the area. Officials remain at the scene as of this report.

The sheriff’s investigation is ongoing and no further details were immediately available.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
