RivCo Supervisor Karen Spiegel to be Metrolink Guest Train Conductor
RIVERSIDE – Metrolink Board Member and Riverside County Supervisor, Karen Spiegel is greeting Metrolink passengers in a recorded message on board trains as part of the agency’s Guest Train Conductor Program.
Spiegel’s message welcomes Metrolink riders aboard, while giving important information about the rail system and stops along the way. Her voice is heard on Metrolink’s Inland Empire-Orange County, Riverside and 91/Perris Valley trains, along with service connecting to Angels Stadium.

“Being a Guest Train Conductor gives me the chance to provide safety messages for riders, while making a connection with travelers in Riverside County and beyond,” Spiegel said. “I appreciate Metrolink’s initiative in making a train ride more interactive and interesting for our riders.”
The Guest Train Conductor program reflects Metrolink’s ongoing effort to engage with riders in a unique and engaging way, while adding a touch of local character and charm.
As a Metrolink director, Spiegel supports public transportation policies and initiatives to help reduce traffic congestion and air pollution.
“Supervisor Spiegel is known for her safety-oriented, focus on customer experience and her voice is welcomed as one of our Guest Train Conductors,” said Metrolink CEO Stephanie Wiggins. “Her voice at our Board of Directors, and now on our trains, helps to make Metrolink service a commuter’s oasis in a desert of over-crowded freeways.”
As a proud resident of Riverside County, Spiegel serves her community by advocating for world-class education for children and providing a safe and affordable environment where families can thrive.
In addition to Spiegel, guest train conductors will include State Senator Connie Leyva, Metrolink Board 2nd Vice Chair and Highland Mayor Pro Tem Larry McCallon, Metrolink Board Member and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis and Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey, just to name a few.

Trevor Montgomery, 47, moved last year to the Intermountain area of Shasta County from Riverside County and runs Riverside County News Source and Shasta County News Source. Additionally, he writes for several other news organizations; including Riverside County based newspapers, Valley News, The Valley Chronicle, and Anza Valley Outlook; as well as Bonsall/Fallbrook Village News in San Diego County and Mountain Echo in Shasta County.
Trevor spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg, breaking his back, and suffering both spinal cord and brain injuries in an off-duty accident. During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations; including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center, and Lake Elsinore Station; along with other locations.
Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
