Deputies interrupt Round Mountain burglary – Two arrested
ROUND MOUNTAIN, Calif. — Authorities arrested a pair of probationers they say were caught burglarizing and ransacking a Round Mountain home Friday, May 15.
Although one of the two alleged suspects fled from the home when deputies arrived at the scene, a United States Forest Service Officer and his K-9 partner were able to track the fleeing man down and assisted deputies in taking the him into custody.

Deputies were dispatched to a private residence on the 29000 block of Terry Mill Rd. shortly after 5 p.m., after receiving reports of an in-progress burglary, Shasta County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Estes has since reported.
When deputies arrived at the residence they immediately spotted 30-year-old, Kirk Daniel Taylor, of Redding, exiting the home’s attached garage and detained him.
Deputies then learned a second man had fled from the home as officials were arriving on scene.

With assistance from a Forest Service officer and his K-9 partner “Cezar”, deputies eventually tracked down 30-year-old, Bryon Thomas Carey, of Anderson; who was discovered hiding in a nearby ditch.
During their subsequent investigation, deputies discovered evidence of forced entry into the residence and found the inside of the home ransacked, according to Estes, who said deputies also found shoe prints matching both Taylor and Carey’s shoes inside the home.
Taylor and Carey admitted to deputies that they had forced their way into the home and deputies later located property stolen from the home during the burglary.

Deputies learned that Taylor was already on active probation for another burglary; as well as theft of access cards, vehicle theft, grand theft, and sales of controlled substances.
Deputies also learned that Carey is currently on active Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for transportation of a controlled substance and that he had an active warrant for hit and run.
Based on their investigation, deputies arrested the pair and transported them to Shasta County Jail in Redding where they were booked on charges of burglary, resisting arrest and vandalism.
Taylor was also booked on suspicion of violating the terms of his probation violation and Carey had the additional charge of a PRCS violation.
Online jail records indicate Taylor remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail or bond. However records also indicate that an emergency bail has been scheduled for him due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis.
Records also indicated Carey had already been released and was no longer in custody.

Trevor has been married for more than 29 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 16 grandchildren.
