Nuevo man, 79, ID’d after deadly Quail Valley crash

UPDATED: Tuesday, Oct. 27, 11:45 a.m., With coroner’s release of information.

MENIFEE, Calif. — Authorities say a man was killed in a solo-vehicle rollover accident in Quail Valley, Friday evening, Oct. 23. The deadly accident happened in the area of Goetz and Manganese roads.

City of Menifee police officers, along with Cal Fire – Riverside and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene around 8:15 p.m., after receiving reports of the crash.

When officials arrived they found a vehicle that had overturned and come to rest about 30 feet off the street into a ditch alongside the roadway.

“One occupant perished at the scene prior to arrival of paramedics,” Cal Fire later said of the deadly accident.

Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner officials have since identified Lawrence Moody, 79, of Nuevo, as the man killed in the crash. A coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:41 p.m.

Menifee PD is continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
