Life-long Perris resident ID’d after fatally struck by car

PERRIS, Calif. — Grieving family members have identified 26-year-old, life-long Perris resident, Jesse Ray Lopez, as the pedestrian killed after he was struck by a car in Perris last Thursday evening, Jan. 21.
The deadly accident, which happened around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Perris Boulevard and San Jacinto Avenue, remains under investigation but intoxicated driving is not considered a contributing factor, according to authorities.

“My son was a very loving person,” Jesse’s mother, Mary Lopez, told RCNS this afternoon; saying Jesse grew up in Perris.
“He always made sure his brothers, sisters and cousins were taken care of,” Mary explained. “He would always give them positive words and encouragement, such as ‘stay in school, don’t drop out, and keep moving forward’.”
“Saying Jesse did not like violence and was a peaceful person, Mary said, “Jesse will be missed by all his family and he will never be forgotten. He is with our Lord and savior and he is at peace.”
Jesse’s family has created a GoFundMe account to help raise necessary funds for his funeral arrangements and other costs.

PERRIS, Calif. — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in Perris, near the intersection of Perris Boulevard and San Jacinto Avenue early Thursday evening, Jan. 21.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire and AMR, were dispatched to the scene about 5:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Hibbler has since said of the deadly collision.
Deputies arrived within minutes and located a collision involving a gray 2012 Nissan Sentra and an unidentified adult male pedestrian.
The victim suffered major injuries and life-saving measures were performed at the scene before he was transported by ground ambulance to the Riverside University Health Systems Hospital in Moreno Valley.
He later succumbed to his injuries and passed away, according to Hibbler.
The victim’s name has not been released pending positive identification and notification of the man’s family.
Based on the circumstances, members of the Perris Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation.
The driver of the Nissan who hit the man was questioned at the scene and did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to Hibbler; who said the investigation is ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
