Shasta County sheriff’s deputies assigned to the South County Patrol Station were dispatched to the home around 12:25 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting an unknown disturbance, Shasta County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit Sergeant Kyle Wallace said after the incident and arrest.
When deputies arrived at the residence, they located 57-year-old Ronald “John” Colosio of Anderson, California, deceased from an apparent stab wound.
Also inside the home with a non-life-threatening laceration to her right leg was 54-year-old Annastacia “Stacia” Christine Colosio, of Redding.
While deputies secured a crime scene and began investigating the fatal encounter, Stacia was transported by ground ambulance to Mercy hospital where she was treated for her injury.
Based on the circumstances, members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit were summoned to the scene and assumed the investigation.
During their investigation, detectives learned that although Stacia and John had been divorced for more than 10 years, they had maintained a relationship “that would turn physically violent at times,” Wallace explained.
Based on their investigation and evidence collected at the scene detectives obtained a murder warrant for Stacia.
When Stacia was released after being treated at the hospital the following day, detectives arrested her on her warrant.
She was then booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion of first-degree murder. Online jail records indicate Stacia remains in custody in lieu of $750,000 bail or bond.
