Naked man who sexually assaulted Temecula sunbathers arrested

TEMECULA, Calif. — Authorities say a man who stripped off his clothes before entering the back yard of a private residence and sexually assaulted two women who were sunbathing was later located and arrested Tuesday afternoon, March 2. The terrifying incident that led to the man’s arrest happened at a home in the 41000 block of Zinfandel Avenue, northeast of Meadows Parkway and Rancho California Road.

Riverside Superior Court records indicate the alleged suspect, since identified as 25-year-old, Jacob Brian Paulsen, has an extensive criminal history dating back to 2018. Documents show that at the time of this incident Paulsen was out on bail on charges including possession of child pornography, communicating with a minor for sexual purposes, indecent exposure, brandishing a weapon, assault, and other charges. He was expected back in court on those charges on April 1, according to court records.

Paulsen is also a person of interest in another ongoing sexual assault investigation, according to officials who believe there may be other victims of Paulsen who have not yet come forward.

Deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the residence about 3:40 p.m. after receiving the report of a felony sexual assault incident that had just occurred, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Edmond Seltzer later said of the incident and arrest.

When deputies arrived they contacted two women who described that a man who was unknown to them had stripped off his clothing before entering the back yard of their residence without permission and sexually assaulting the two sunbathing women.

After the sexual assaults, Pulsen put his clothes back on and left the property on foot, at which time the two victims called 911 to report the incident.

Deputies and investigators arrived and eventually located the suspect, who was then positively identified by both victims.

Based on their investigation, officials arrested Paulsen and he was later booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of felony sexual assault and committing a crime while out on bail or early release.

Online jail records indicated Paulsen cremains in custody in lieu of $500,000 bail or bond.
