Impairment suspected in deadly I-215 crash
WILDOMAR, Calif. — Authorities say driver impairment is suspected in the death of a Temecula man after a three-vehicle collision in Murrieta early Monday morning, March 15.
The man killed in the deadly crash, which happened on the southbound I-215, just north of Clinton Keith Road, has since been identified as 43-year-old, Sea-Jay Cameron.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jones has since reported that at around 12:42 a.m. Cameron was driving a 2012 VW Jetta southbound on I-215 just north of Clinton Keith Road in the number three lane just before the fatal collision.
At the same time, a 33-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, both from San Diego, were driving a 2013 Ford F150 in the number two lane at about 70-75 miles per hour.
A third vehicle, a 2020 Hyundai Kona, being driven by a 43-year-old Murrieta woman, was heading the same direction in the number three lane, behind Cameron’s vehicle.
“For reasons which are under investigation, Cameron allowed his VW to veer to the left into the number two lane where the left side of his vehicle collided into the right side of Ford pickup truck,” Jones said of the accident.
“The force of the impact caused Cameron’s vehicle to veer back to the right onto the shoulder where the right side of his VW struck a light pole,” Jones continued; adding that the light pole was knocked down and fell onto the highway.
Cameron’s VW then overturned within the shoulder area, before coming back to rest on its wheels.
The driver of the Hyundai who had been traveling behind Cameron was not able to stop in time before crashing into the light pole that had fallen into the lanes of traffic.

Cameron suffered major injuries and was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries and passed away. A coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 4:52 a.m.
None of the other three people involved in the collision were injured, according to Jones.
While not specifying who was suspected of driving under the influence, Jones said, “The CHP suspects driving impairment played a role in this traffic collision.”
No arrests have been made and CHP’s investigation is ongoing.
