When officials arrived they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

Detectives with the Robbery – Homicide Unit, along with specialists from the department’s Forensics Unit, responded and assumed the investigation. They were assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

Over the next several hours, officials were seen focusing on the area surrounding a white Ford Ranger pickup truck, which was found stopped in the roadway blocking traffic and may have been related to the fatal shooting.

“There were no witnesses to the homicide and detectives are currently investigating at the scene,” Riverside Police Officer Javier Cabrera later reported from the still-active crime scene.

The hours-long investigation caused some area RTA busses to be re-routed, but otherwise did not have a heavy impact on evening commuters.

Riverside PD’s investigation is active and ongoing and officials said they had no further details to release at this time.
