Arrest made in Jurupa Valley shooting that killed one brother, critically injured other

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. — Officials have arrested a man who allegedly shot two brothers at a quinceañera celebration in Jurupa Valley Saturday evening, May 29. The shooting, which killed one man and critically injured his brother, happened at a private residence in the 4900 Block of Rutile Street, northwest of Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Road.

Officials previously identified Manuel Villaman, 22, of Jurupa Valley, as the man killed in the shooting. According to grieving family members, the deceased man’s brother was also shot and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

As their homicide investigation continued, Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators identified and located Gael Ian Cazares, 19, of Jurupa.

Cazares was arrested in the 5900 Block of Troth St in Jurupa Valley, according to a Sheriff’s update regarding the ongoing investigation. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Online jail records indicate he remains in custody, where he is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall Of Justice June 3.

Original Story: Double shooting leaves one dead in Jurupa Valley – No arrests made

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. — Authorities say two people were shot, leading to the death of one of the victims in Jurupa Valley Saturday evening, May 29. The deadly incident happened at a private residence in the 4900 Block of Rutile Street, northwest of Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Road.

Deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to the scene around 10 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit Sergeant Rick Espinoza has since reported.

When deputies arrived they located two males suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Espinosa, who did not say if both victims were adults or if one of the two males was a juvenile.

“One of the males died on scene and the second was transported by emergency medical personnel to a hospital where he received medical care,” the Sergeant explained.

The victim who passed away at the scene has been identified as Manuel Villaman, 22, of Jurupa Valley.

Members of the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, which has not yet led to anyone publicly identified or arrested.

The Sheriff’s investigation is active and ongoing and no further details were released.
