BANNING — Authorities are investigating an in-custody death after a man died at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, Sunday, Oct. 8, according to sheriff’s officials. Deputies assigned to the correctional facility discovered an unresponsive Hispanic male adult “within the intake area of the jail” about 12:25 a.m., Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Walter Mendez explained in a written press release after the man’s death.
