Responding to a telephone request for information about the accident, Cottonwood Union School District Superintendent Doug Geren later confirmed the collision involved a school bus that had been rear-ended by a silver Hyundai Accent.

According to Geren, the rear-end collision was so minor, the bus driver and children aboard the bus had not even been aware the crash happened. Geren was not immediately sure how many children were on the bus at the time of the crash, but he did confirm that they were all North Cottonwood School students and that none were injured or required medical treatment.

Although the driver of the Hyundai initially requested an ambulance to the scene, Geren explained, “She was just shook up a little bit, but she wasn’t actually injured.”

CHP, which conducts all investigations for accidents involving school buses regardless where the accidents occur, later confirmed the driver of the small car was checked out by emergency personnel, but required no further medical assistance and was not transported for further treatment.

CHP’s investigation into the collision is ongoing.
