Woman’s body found on remote Sacramento River island
REDDING — Authorities in Redding are investigating a suspicious death after a woman’s body was found on a “remote and isolated” island located on the Sacramento River late yesterday afternoon, Friday, May 10. The victim, whose name has not been released, was reportedly discovered by a family member, in the area of Girvan Rd. and Island Dr., east of Cascade Park.

Yesterday’s investigation began around 5:15 p.m., when Redding police officers were notified that a man had located the lifeless body of a female family member, according to an RPD social media release. The release did not specify how the man and woman were related. It also did not state if they were living on, or why they had been at, the small island.
Because of the remote location where the victim’s body was discovered, CHP’s – Northern Division Air Operations assisted in ferrying officers to and from the island as their investigation was getting underway.
Based on the circumstances, RPD investigators responded to the island and assumed the death investigation.
“At this time, the cause of death is unknown and an autopsy will be scheduled at a later date,” explained RPD. “The male was interviewed and released.”

RPD’s investigation is active and ongoing and the victim’s name is not being released at this time.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
