Man caught burglarizing Redding Salvation Army
REDDING — A probationer was arrested after he was caught red-handed burglarizing a Redding charitable organization Sunday morning, May 12, according to Redding PD officials. The incident and arrest happened at Salvation Army, at 4460 Westside Rd.

Redding police officers responded to a report of an audible alarm at the charitable organization’s warehouse around 9 a.m., Redding Police Cpl. Paul Slagle later reported.
When officers arrived and began checking the store, they discovered a partially opened roll-up door to the rear of the closed and otherwise secured business.
As officers continued to investigate the matter and quickly worked to establish a perimeter around the large warehouse, one of the officials observed a person with a bag of clothing items begin to emerge from under the partially opened roll-up door.

When the suspect, later identified as Shannon Sewell, 36, of Redding, realized officers were outside the business’s roll-up door, “he was observed running within the business to an exit door on the north side of the large warehouse,” according to Slagle.
“As Sewell exited the building, he was met by a number of Redding police officers as well as Police K-9 Nord,” Slagle explained. “Sewell immediately complied with officer’s commands and he was taken into custody without incident.”
After detaining Sewel for further investigation, officers learned he was on Post Release Community Supervision for a prior conviction.
Based on their investigation, officers arrested Sewel and he was booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of commercial burglary, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and violation of probation.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
