Bike lighting violation leads to Redding drug sales arrest

REDDING — A probationer riding a bicycle without proper lighting equipment was arrested in Redding after officers found he was in possession of methamphetamine Monday evening, May 20.

Redding police officers stopped Jon Dale Hubert, 34, of Redding, about 10:45 p.m., near the intersection of Market and South streets, after seeing Hubert’s bike did not have proper lights, Redding Police Sergeant Sam Llamas later reported.

After learning Hubert was on Post Release Community Supervision and was subject to search terms, officers discovered he was in possession of approximately two ounces of methamphetamine.

Based on their investigation, officers determined Hubert was selling the methamphetamine and arrested him.

He was later booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell and violating the terms of his probation.

“The Redding Police Department wants to remind you to please say no to drugs and ensure your bicycle has the proper lighting and is equipped for night time riding,” Sgt. Llamas said after Hubert’s arrest.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
