Injured paraglider airlifted after San Jacinto crash
SAN JACINTO — A paraglider suffered moderate injuries after the person crashed near San Jacinto’s Soboba Paragliding early Sunday evening, July 7.
Soboba Paragliding has been the site of several other accidents that ended with skydiving and/or paragliding enthusiasts injured or killed, including a paraglider who was killed after crashing at the site last September.
In a sad coincidence another skydiver was injured after crashing at another popular Inland Empire skydive facility in Lake Elsinore around 9 a.m. this morning, but details about that accident are still trickling in.

Emergency personnel, including nine firefighters from two Cal Fire and one Soboba Fire engine company, along with a paramedic squad, deputies, and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the scene of the crash shortly before 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire spokesperson April Newman later reported.
When officials began arriving at the scene they found an injured paraglider who had gone down a cliff near the paragliding park off Soboba Rd.
“Firefighters began making their way up to the patient’s location & requested assistance from Cal Fire’s Helicopter 301,” Newman explained.
H301 responded to the area and quickly located the patient and rescuers. The aviation crew then performed a technical hoist rescue and ferried the injured paraglider to a waiting ground ambulance near the base of the mountain.

The victim was then rushed to an area hospital with injuries Newman described as moderate.
No further updates regarding the nature or full extent of the victim’s injuries have been provided and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
