Man killed in Ramona Expressway head-on crash

PERRIS, Calif. — One person was killed and another hospitalized after a two-vehicle, head-on collision in Perris early this morning, Monday, Dec. 7.

The deadly collision happened on Ramona Expressway, between Avalon Parkway and Bradley Road, east of Perris Valley Speedway, according to officials.

Deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station, along with Cal Fire-Riverside and AMR, responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision, Sergeant Hibbler later said of the deadly incident.

Deputies arrived within minutes and found a collision involving a gray Jaguar and a white Dodge Caliber. Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage and the drivers and sole occupants were trapped inside their vehicles.

The driver of the Dodge suffered critical injuries and passed away at the scene, according to Hibbler. The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of the man’s family.

The driver of the Jaguar suffered major injuries and after being extricated from their vehicle was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital, said Hibbler.

Members of the Perris Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation.

Officials have not yet said if alcohol or drug intoxication were believed to be contributing factors in the collision and their investigation is ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
