Officers with the Anderson Police Department were dispatched to the All Stars Sports Bar on Balls Ferry Road around 10 a.m., after receiving reports of an assault that had just occurred in the area.

“When officers arrived on scene they contacted the 62 year-old victim who reported Wyatt Jay Hoban, age 50, of Anderson, had picked up a large wooden object and attempted to strike him with it,” Anderson PD later said of the incident. “The victim indicated the object missed him, but struck his vehicle, causing damage in excess of $1,000.”

Although Hoban fled the scene before officers arrived, officers located him the next day walking on Shady Lane.

Officers detained Hoban before arresting him on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism from the prior morning’s incident. He was later booked into Shasta County Jail in Redding on those charges as well as his warrants.

Based on Hoban’s numerous and repeated contacts and arrests, Anderson PD worked with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office in designating Hoban for the Chronic Offender Accountability Program.

“Based on this designation the District Attorney’s Office will request Hoban remain in custody until the adjudication of all his pending cases,” said APD officials.

Online jail records indicate Hoban remains in custody in lieu of $240,000.
