Cal Fire-Riverside firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 12:45 p.m., Cal Fire has since reported.

First arriving firefighters reported finding smoke pouring from the 2,000-square-foot, single-story, single-family dwelling.

After entering the residence, firefighters discovered a fire burning in the attic and initiated an aggressive attack on the blaze.

Firefighters made quick work of knocking down the fire, which they reported was extinguished around 1:20 p.m.

The home’s occupant was treated at the scene for smoke exposure and minor burns, before being transported by ground ambulance to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for further treatment. Cal Fire later described the person’s injuries as moderate to serious.

No other homes were damaged as a result of the fire, which caused no other civilian or firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
