Deputies from the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded to the residence at 9:07 a.m., after receiving the report of a shooting at the location, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Richard Carroll has since reported.
When deputies arrived they located a deceased adult male, according to Carroll; who said the man’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his family.

During the investigation, the suspect was identified as 45-year-old, Derrick Anthony Edgerson, according to Carrol.
After his arrest, Edgerson was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of murder, kidnapping, domestic battery, violation of a protective order, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and failure to appear or pay a fine. It was not immediately known if all of Edgerson’s charges were related to Thursday’s incident or if Edgerson was booked on additional, pre-existing charges related to one or more warrants.
Online jail records indicate Edgerson remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bail or bond.
The Sheriff’s investigation is ongoing, and Carroll said there were no additional details for release at this time.
