Anderson motel disturbance leads to arrests, recovery of stolen property

ANDERSON, Calif., — Authorities say a disturbance at an Anderson Motel 6 early Saturday morning, Sept. 4, led to the discovery of property stolen during a recent string of local vehicle burglaries. During a search of the motel room where the disturbance was reported, officers also located drug paraphernalia and brass knuckles, and ultimately arrested a wanted felon and woman on probation.

City of Anderson police officers were dispatched to the Motel 6 around 1:30 a.m. after a person called 911 and reported a disturbance occurring in one of the motel rooms at the location.

“Once on scene, officers gathered information that led them to believe a crime was in progress inside a motel room,” APD wrote in a social media release.

“Officers announced their presence several times at the door but received no response,” APD continued; adding, “Fearing for the wellbeing of the occupants inside, officers made entry into the room.”

Officers found two subjects, Melissa Katherine Jensen, 28, and Jeremy Gilbert Reeves, 31, both of Redding, inside the room who were pretending to be asleep on the bed, according to officials.

Although Reeves initially provided a false name of an acquaintance, once properly identified, a records check revealed he was on CDC Parole and had an active felony warrant for his arrest.

A records check also revealed Jensen was on active court probation with warrantless search terms.

During a subsequent check of the room, officers discovered numerous items that had recently been reported stolen, as well as drug paraphernalia, and brass knuckles.

“The mentioned stolen items were from a recent string of auto burglaries that had occurred in Anderson over the last several weeks,” APD explained.

Officers also located several clothing items that belonged to Reeves that he was seen wearing in the surveillance footage from the earlier burglaries.

“Reeves also matched the male suspect in the surveillance footage,” explained APD.

Based on their investigation and findings, officers arrested both Reeves and Jensen and the pair was later booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding.

Reeves was booked on his felony warrant, as well as possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and providing false ID to a police officer

Jensen was booked on suspicion of possession of brass knuckles and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“Additional charges will be filed against both subjects with the Shasta County DA’s Office,” said APD.

Online jail records indicate both Reeves and Jensen have since been released from custody.
