Stalker arrested after confronting victim inside Redding home

REDDING, Calif. — A man who authorities say was stalking a Redding woman was arrested after entering the victim’s home through a dog door and confronting her inside her kitchen earlier this morning, Sunday, Sept. 20.

The man, who allegedly began stalking the woman after being hired to fix her air conditioning unit and fled from officers when confronted this morning, is now facing charges of residential burglary, prowling and resisting and obstructing peace officers.

“The Redding Police are continuing to investigate (the suspect) for the violation of stalking the victim, and may pursue those charges at a later date,” Redding Police Corporal Rob Garnero said after this morning’s incident and arrest.

Redding police officers began investigating this morning’s incident around 2:45 a.m., after the victim, whose name and age have not been released, called 911 to report that a man had crawled through her home’s dog door and confronted her inside the kitchen of her residence.

While officers were responding to the victim’s home the man, since identified as 41-year-old, William Robinson, of Redding, fled the area in a white Honda sedan.

William Robinson, 41, of Redding was charged with burglary, prowling and resisting arrest after he allegedly confronted a woman inside her Redding kitchen early this morning. Officials, who say the alleged suspect entered the victim’s home through a dog door are also considering stalking charges.

Officers investigating the incident learned the victim met Robinson about a month earlier, when she hired him to repair her air conditioning unit.

“While repairing the unit, the victim alleged (Robinson) made several unwanted advances on her,” explained Garnero. “(He) also obtained the victim’s phone number by unknown means and proceeded to call and text her numerous times in the following weeks, causing the victim to block his number.”

The situation escalated when Robinson “arrived at her residence unannounced and entered through her dog door,” explained Garnero.

The victim told investigating officers Robinson confronted her in her kitchen, at which time she ordered him to leave her residence and threatened to call the police.

While checking the area for Robinson, they found him and his Honda at the Arco AM/PM gas station at 2010 Churn Creek Rd. in Redding.

Garnero said Robinson admitted to entering the victim’s home without permission so he could make contact with her and the victim subsequently identified Robinson as the man who had been stalking her and entered her home unannounced.
